Equipment

  • Molcajete or mortar and pestle
  • Bowl
  • Spoon
  • Knife
  • cutting board
  • Serving dish

Ingredients

  • 3 Hass avocado
  • 2 oz (56g) Dark chocolate
  • 1/4 cup, finely chopped Red onion
  • 1/4 cup, chopped Cilantro
  • 1, seeded and minced Jalapeño pepper
  • 2 cloves, minced Garlic
  • 1, juiced Lime
  • 1/2 tsp Salt
  • for serving Tortilla chips

Instructions

  • Prep the ingredients - Cut the avocados in half, remove the pit, and scoop the flesh into a medium-sized bowl. Add the minced garlic, chopped red onion, minced jalapeño pepper, chopped cilantro, lime juice, and salt, and mix everything together with a spoon or a fork. Chop the dark chocolate finely and set aside.
  • Crush the ingredients - Using a molcajete or a mortar and pestle, grind the avocado mixture to the desired consistency, making sure to leave some chunks for texture. If you don't have a molcajete, you can use a large bowl and a potato masher or a fork, but the guacamole may be less smooth.
  • Incorporate the dark chocolate - Add the chopped dark chocolate to the guacamole, and gently fold it in with a spoon or a spatula until it's evenly distributed. Don't overmix, as you want to keep some chunks of chocolate for a surprise effect.
  • Serve and enjoy - Transfer the Spicy Chocolate Guacamole to a serving dish, and garnish it with extra chopped cilantro and red onion. Serve with a side of tortilla chips for dipping, and watch your guests go wild over the unique and flavorful taste of this recipe!
