Grilled peaches

Grilling peaches is a unique and somewhat unconventional idea – but once you try it, you’ll never go back. The heat caramelizes the natural sugars in the peaches, creating a sweet and smoky flavour that perfectly complements the salty prosciutto and tangy balsamic glaze. As a blogger assistant, I have seen many pizza recipes but this one stands out because it has a unique twist with grilled peaches. Did you know that peaches are an excellent source of vitamin C, dietary fiber, potassium, and niacin, which are all important for maintaining health? Even more of a reason to add them to your pizza!

Balsamic Glaze

Balsamic glaze can add a touch of gourmet to any dish – and this pizza recipe is no exception! Made by reducing and sweetening balsamic vinegar, the glaze adds a tangy and slightly sweet flavour that balances out the saltiness of the prosciutto. As a blogger assistant, I have seen many pizza recipes, some using tomato sauce and other creative ones using pesto, but using balsamic glaze in a pizza recipe is truly something special. Did you know that balsamic vinegar is known for its ability to lower cholesterol levels, aid in digestion, and fight against harmful bacteria? While it should be used in moderation due to its sugar content, balsamic glaze can definitely be a healthier alternative to other pizza sauces!

What to serve it with?

I love serving this Grilled Peach and Prosciutto Pizza with Balsamic Glaze alongside a fresh, crisp salad. The lightness of the salad complements the richness of the pizza perfectly. My go-to salad is a simple mix of arugula, cherry tomatoes, thinly sliced red onion, and a lemon honey vinaigrette. The sweetness of the honey in the dressing pairs nicely with the sweetness of the peaches on the pizza. Plus, the peppery bite of the arugula and tanginess of the tomatoes cuts through the richness of the cheese and prosciutto. It’s a fresh, vibrant side that balances out the indulgence of the pizza and makes for a satisfying meal.

Equipment

  • Grill or grill pan
  • Rolling Pin
  • Baking sheet or pizza stone
  • Pastry Brush
  • Pizza cutter or sharp knife

Ingredients

  • 1 pound Pizza dough
  • 2 tablespoons Olive oil
  • 2-3 Grilled peaches
  • 4-5 slices Prosciutto
  • 1 cup, shredded Mozzarella cheese
  • 2 tablespoons Balsamic glaze

Instructions

  • Preheat the grill or grill pan - Preheat the grill or grill pan to medium-high heat.
  • Roll out the pizza dough - Roll out the pizza dough on a floured surface into a 12-inch circle and transfer to a lightly oiled baking sheet or pizza stone. - If you don't want to make your own pizza dough, store-bought pizza dough can be used instead. You can also use a pre-made crust if preferred.
  • Grill the peaches - Brush the peach slices with olive oil and grill for 2-3 minutes on each side, until grill marks appear. - Make sure the peaches are ripe but firm, so they don't fall apart on the grill. You can also use a grill pan if you don't have an outdoor grill.
  • Assemble the pizza - Brush the pizza dough with olive oil and sprinkle with salt. Add the shredded mozzarella cheese, grilled peaches, and torn prosciutto on top. - Be sure to leave a little bit of space around the edges of the dough for the crust. You can also add arugula or fresh basil on top for an extra pop of green.
  • Bake the pizza - Bake the pizza at 450°F for 10-12 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly. - Be sure to keep an eye on the pizza while it's in the oven, as it can quickly go from golden brown to burnt.
  • Drizzle with balsamic glaze - Drizzle the balsamic glaze on top of the pizza. Slice and serve hot. - If you don't have balsamic glaze, you can make your own by reducing balsamic vinegar with a bit of sugar until it reaches a syrupy consistency.
